Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic are leading 2-1 against the Clippers in the first round of the playoffs. It’s been a pretty interesting series so far, as the Mavs bagged two wins after a loss in Game 1. Doncic continues to dominate in the playoffs, putting up great numbers in the last three games. However, before the tip-off, Doncic and JJ Redick shared a wholesome moment.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania , the Charlotte Hornets recently interviewed Redick for their head coaching job. Steve Clifford, the current head coach of the Hornets didn’t meet their expectations, considering the past two seasons’ performance. On the other hand, a former NBA player and one of the greatest shooters in the league seems quite eager to dictate plays from the sideline. Doncic and God Shammgod teased Redick about his recent rumors.

Redick has shown how he reads the game through his podcasts. The former Magic has been very active on social media, as he constantly releases new podcast episodes, while recently starting a podcast with LeBron James. Redick would be a great coach, knowing what he knows about the modern game. JJ also covered the Mavs and Clippers Game 3 recently.

JJ Redick did not include Luka Doncic in his starting five comprising of former teammates

A couple of months ago, JJ Redick named a special starting five that included his former teammates. Before retiring Redick played 13 games for the Mavericks in his last season. This does mean that Redick can add Doncic to this lineup. However, Doncic’s former teammate failed to include him in his special starting five. Redick listed Chris Paul, Vince Carter, Jimmy Butler, Blake Griffin, and Joel Embiid.

Doncic hilariously replied to the same. When Redick realized that he had missed Doncic, he regretted his decision for a second, though went on to show love for Vince Carter. It would be one of the best teams assembled if Redick had named Doncic as the shooting guard in the starting five.

The Mavs are looking to get past the Clippers, as they’re up 2-1. Doncic and Irving have been a problem for the Clippers on the offensive end, whereas the squad has been doing a fantastic job on the defensive end. It will be interesting to see the Mavs push past the Clippers and face their probable opponent, the Denver Nuggets in the Conference Semi-Finals.
