Former Bears Tight End Adds Another NFC North Infinity Stone to His Collection

The Chicago Bears are a different looking team after an active offseason. Aside from the additions of Caleb Williams, Keenan Allen, and Rome Odunze, the Bears also added at the tight end position. To compliment Cole Kmet, Gerald Everett was inked to a contract.

With Everett's arrival, Robert Tonyan was certainly out of a job with the Bears. On Thursday, reports confirmed that Tonyan will have a new team in 2024. Tonyan has signed a deal with the Minnesota Vikings.

Tonyan's arrival in Minnesota marks a hilarious career for the tight end. After beginning his career with the Detroit Lions, playing most of his career with the Green Bay Packers, and making a stop in Chicago last season, Tonyan will have suited up for every NFC North team by season's end.

Although Tonyan never took regular-season snaps with the Lions, he still was signed by them as an undrafted free agent and suited up for the team in preseason action in 2017. In 2018, Tonyan latched on with Green Bay where he spent most of his career.

In his one-year stop with the Bears, Tonyan produced underwhelming numbers. In 17 games, Tonyan caught 11 passes for 112 yards. Unfortunately, the tight end was just not utilized much in Chicago with Kmet in front of him on the depth chart.

Now, Tonyan will once again serve as TE2, this time playing second fiddle to TJ Hockenson. The Vikings will happily add assets around their new rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy.

Tonyan is entering his seventh NFL season. In just eight years, Tonyan has collected all the NFC North infinity stones.
